Summary
- Our planning tools run entirely in your browser. What you enter in a tool is not sent to us or stored by us.
- We don't use analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't sell personal information.
- We receive personal information only if you choose to give it: by signing up for our free guide, or by using the contact form.
Information you give us
Free guide email sign-up
If you request our free planning guide, you give us your first name and email address. This is processed by our email provider, AWeber, which stores it and sends you the guide and any follow-up emails. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email. AWeber's handling of data is described in AWeber's privacy policy.
Contact form
If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message by email so we can reply. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to respond and for our records. Please don't send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, medical details or financial account information.
Our planning tools
The tools — including What Do I Do Now?, the checklist, cost calculator, burial vs. cremation guide, urn size calculator and service planner — process your answers in your own browser. Nothing is transmitted to our server, no account is needed, and nothing is saved after you close the page. If you print or save results as a PDF, that file stays on your device. The tools never ask for names of the deceased, medical information, government ID numbers, insurance or financial account numbers.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider (Hostinger) and our content-delivery and security provider (Cloudflare) process technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This data is used for security and operations, not marketing. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies.
We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics service, advertising pixels, or social-media tracking scripts. Our fonts are served from our own server.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain Amazon affiliate links. If you click one, you leave our site; Amazon may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us. Amazon's use of data is governed by Amazon's privacy notice. See our affiliate disclosure.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers described above to operate the site and email, or if required by law.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time. You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by contacting us through our contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws; we will honor applicable requests.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum.
Changes
If we change this policy — for example, if we add an analytics service — we will update this page and its effective date.
